VDL Cosmetics Expert Color Eye Book Monos ft. Earl Grey, Cherrywood, and Sharkskin

I'm still getting through swatching and reviewing all of the VDL items I received a while back. I can't tell you how happy I am to have this brand on my radar now, because I've liked everything and look forward to trying some more items in the future. I recently reviewed the Creamy Stick Jelly blush in Heidi and still have reviews coming of the primers, foundation, and more. Today, I'm here with swatches of VDL's Expert Color Eye Book Monos in Earl Grey, Cherrywood, and Sharkskin.

The cases are hard plastic with a magnetic closure and a mirror. The magnetic hold is strong and I have had no issues with these coming open when they aren't supposed to. I appreciate the mirror for ease of on-the-go touch-ups.The packaging feels more luxurious than the price point would lead you to expect. But what about the product and formula?

In my Influenster box, I received the colors Earl Grey, Cherrywood, and Sharkskin. Two mattes and a shimmer.

Earl Grey
A good cool-toned base color. It takes a little to build up the color, if you want a deeper base. It's smooth to apply and blends nicely. I don't always enjoy working with mattes, but this one is pretty good.

Cherrywood
This one surprised me simply because it's not a color I would have chosen on my own and yet it's the one I like the most. I don't usually gravitate to the redder tones in eyeshadows. Like Earl Grey, you need to build it up a bit if you want it less sheer. Lasts all day on my lids.

Sharkskin
This is the one I thought I would like the most, because I can't say no to a good shimmer. Cherrywood took the crown, but this one is in a close second. A really pretty silvery taupe which is right up my alley, because taupes are my most reached for eyeshadows. This goes on opaque, though I do experience a tiny bit of fallout on application with this one. No issues during the day with creasing, fallout, or fading.

Earl Grey, Cherrywood, Sharkskin
These retail for $15 CA for 2.4g and there's over 30 shades to choose from! The formulas are nice, the packaging is sturdy, and the price point is fair. Have you tried anything from VDL yet? I'm quickly becoming a fan!
