September Favorites

  • Urban Decay Naked Palette- This is possibly my favorite palette that I own! Review and swatches here.
  • NYX lipgloss in Gold Mauve- Such a pretty mauve! Small review here and swatch is below.
  • Revlon ColorBurst lipstick in Mauve- I don't think I've mentioned this yet. I bought two colors, but this one is my favorite of the two. I've been wearing it with Gold Mauve for almost every makeup look I've worn for the past month or so! Swatch is below.
  • MAC Studio Finish Concealer- My holy grail concealer! I'm so close to hitting pan. :) Review is here.
  • MAC MSF in Porcelain Pink- This is such a pretty color. I wear it alone for a slight glow or I layer it over another pink blush for a little added color. Review is here.

Any specific products that you are liking? What is your favorite lip combination right now? :) I love that fall is finally here!

Revlon ColorStay Under Eye Concealer

Pros:
dries to a powdery finish
SPF 15
blends well

Cons:
the packaging- It takes forever to get the product to come out on the very first use. After that, sometimes a little too much product can come out on a click.

the coverage- may not be enough for those with very dark circles

price- You do not get a lot for your money.

applicator- The felt tip is worthless.

shade selection- I got the lightest shade and it was much too warm-toned.

All-in-all, I would not repurchase this product. Maybelline Mineral Power is a much better drugstore concealer and works just fine as an under eye concealer. This is the first product in the ColorStay line that has disappointed me.

MAC Venomous Villains

MAC Venomous Villains has launched online now, FYI! Go there now because things are already selling out fast! Some MAC stores won't hold orders for you so if you go through a store, call ahead of time to make sure.

Because I have a giftcard for The Bay (Canadian version of Macy's, basically), I called the MAC counter there and had my order put aside for me. I'll get it all Thursday evening. Now, if Thursday could just hurry up and get here! :)

Innocence, Beware lipstick (Cruella)
Heartless lipstick (Cruella)
Wicked Ways lipglass (Cruella)
Stange Potion lipglass (Evil Queen)
Vainglorious eyeshadow (Evil Queen)
Oh So Fair beauty powder (Evil Queen)
Briar Rose beauty powder (Maleficent)
Bad Fairy nail polish (Maleficent)
Truth & Light Magically Cool Liquid Powder (Dr. Facilier)

I tried not to go overboard and I definitely didn't buy anything that I knew I wouldn't use. Being a Disney and MAC nut, that was hard to do! This is the collection that I have been waiting the longest for. Really hope they will do a Disney Princesses line one day! That would be amazing.

I look forward to getting these items on Thursday evening. So on Friday, look for the swatches and a small "first impressions" type of review! If you've made an order from this collection, already have some from it, or you're making an order soon...which products have caught your eye? Did this collection disappoint you or make you jump for joy? If there is something that you absolutely recommend from the Villains that I did not get, sing of its praises here! :)

Sephora Online Haul

I made an order online, because I was impatient. None of my Sephora stores were giving me a date for when they'd finally have the BOS III and I wanted to get the professional size Primer Potion, so why not put an order online and just suck up the extra duty charges?! I imagine I'll be getting these in the mail this week or early next week. :)

Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. III- I'm really excited for Rockstar since that is my favorite UD 24/7 eyeliner color! A more in-depth review and swatches will come soon!

Urban Decay Primer Potion Professional Size- I wish they would make this packaging the norm for all of their primers! A squeeze tube is better than the curvy bottle they have any day of the week!

Sephora by OPI nail polish in Studs & Stilettos- This looks unique and I don't have a similar color.

Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil in Stash- Lillian recommended it! Check her out!

Benefit VIB Beauty Gift Bag- With a $50 purchase, you got a choice between a Too Faced, NARS, or Benefit gift bag. I chose Benefit because they offered more products. Plus, I love all of the products in the bag. Did any of you get the gift bag offer?

I'll talk more about the products when I get them! :) And if you have any of them, feel free to rant or gush on them here!

P.S.- My uncle had an accident on his bike. I don't know the full details yet, but I know he has broken bones and a punctured lung (according to my aunt's facebook). I'd really appreciate positive thoughts and prayers thrown in his direction. Thank you! ♥

MAC Cleanse Off Oil

I've had this awhile now. I got it back in February. I know, I know...it has taken me ages to get around to reviewing this.

The pump is nice and pumps out just the right amount. Now while I use other products and switch back and forth between them, I have still used this a good amount during the time that I have had it. You really don't need a lot of this product to see results!

I wanted to show how well it removes makeup, so I put a few different types on my hand.

With one pump, it's all gone. How I use this oil is I massage it into my skin, wet my hands, and massage it again. The water changes the oil into a nice milky consistency (emulsification). Then, I just rinse my skin off. This will work on any skin type. While I love it for my facial makeup, I still prefer Boots Botanics Soothing Eye Makeup Remover for my eyes. I definitely recommend this as a makeup remover as it does its job extremely well and it's very gentle on skin!

Eyeko Creams

I am an Eyeko Ambassador, but that's not why I'm telling you about these. I'm telling you about these because they are just really great and affordable products. Both creams retail at $14US each. The best part is that you get a free gift if you use an ambassador code (mine is E4401) AND if you spend over $15. If you look on the site's sidebar, they will give you the code for the free gift of the week for when you spend $15.

Eyeko Cream and Tinted Cream.

These are great when used for highlighting and contouring. Being cream products, those with dry skin will really like these. The regular cream (the highlighting one) really gives that dewy finish. I mix it in with my foundation sometimes for an all-over glow. And I add the tinted cream to my lighter foundations in the summer for a bronze look. I don't really use the tinted cream for contouring, as I prefer a powder for that. The cream does blend out really well and is not as scary as it looks. :)

The right of each swatch shows both creams blended in.

And just so you know, you don't get as much product as the jars make it appear. I dipped a spatula in and you can see how deep the product actually is. I know it does not look like a lot but a small amount goes a long way, especially when you mix it in your foundations.

MAC Compact Switcheroo

So I get bored with my MAC compacts and switch them around from time-to-time. It's easy to do!

I popped Shell Pearl out of its Liberty of London casing and I'm putting it into the plain black MSF Natural case. You just pop the black pan out by putting a knife or something pointy between the pan and the case and just pop it out. Just like when you're taking the pan out of the eyeshadow cases!

So now my Shell Pearl is in my MSF case.

Here is the original Liberty of London compact. I love the packaging!

So I took my MSF Natural from its compact and placed it in there. So now I have a pretty compact to whip out for touch-ups! Even better that it is now in a compact with a mirror.

You can do this with any of their compacts that are the same size. If switching MSFs, make sure the dome is flat. If you put in a brand new one, the beauty powder compacts will not close. Thought this might help some of you since there are some gorgeous beauty powders coming out with the Venomous Villains! If you know you won't use the original product that often, why not switch it around with one that you will! :)

Hope this made sense!

Get NAKED!

No, seriously...run out right now and get NAKED! Urban Decay's Naked palette, that is. ;) This is worth every single dollar. Being a girl who sticks mostly to neutrals, this palette is a huge winner. There is a nice combination of matte and shimmer.

Among my favorites: Sin (my fave UD eyeshadow), Naked, Buck, Toasted, and Hustle. Naked and Buck go together really well for a matte neutral eye! The one that I found to have the most fallout was Darkhorse. If you like Bourbon, you'll love Whiskey (ha!). Whiskey is a little lighter in color with no glitter. I know everyone has been raving about this palette and that's because it deserves to be raved about. There is a myriad of looks that can be created with this one set. If you are a neutrals fan, you should look into this!

Bath & Body Works Haul

It's been so long since I have gotten anything from Bath & Body Works, much less step foot into one! I put myself on a bit of an unspoken ban until I used up/gave away a few products from there that I already own. I used up two and gave a few away as gifts! I always buy things from there and put them to the side to give as gifts, especially during Bath & Body Work's bigger sales. Those come in handy when birthdays or holidays pop up!

Not feeling as overwhelmed by my collection anymore, I decided that I could finally go to the store again. And because of not getting anything in awhile from there, I appreciate these even more! Project B&BW was a success. :)

Group shot!

Pretty much what I was going there for in the first place! They have LE Halloween scents in their anti-bacterial gels! They have five, but I didn't get the licorice one because I can't stand licorice. I got the Candy Corn, Apple, Plum, and Marshmallow ones! I picked up two other random ones to either use or give away (Banana and Caribbean Escape). I also got a glow-in-the-dark holder for them, which you can see in the group picture. anti-bacterial gels

Anti-bacterial sprays. It's been so long since I went that I didn't even know that they had sprays now! I actually only got the Warm Vanilla Sugar for myself. The Sweet Pea and Sea Island Cotton ones are already going in a basket for a friend's birthday. anti-bacterial sprays

This was a scent that I hadn't yet added to my collection. Not knowing if I would really like it, I only bought the smaller sizes. It smells very fresh and seems like it will be a nice scent for fall. I'm glad that I got them. Rainkissed Leaves

I am a sucker for the Warm Vanilla Sugar scent. I have just about everything that they offer with that scent. It makes me think of winter and Christmas for some reason, so it's one that I reach for during colder weather. And I love when my place smells sweet, so I picked up a candle and the concentrated room spray. Warm Vanilla Sugar

Among my absolute favorite B&BW scents are: Country Apple, Warm Vanilla Sugar, Pearberry, and Sweet Pea. I used to love one that they had called Toasted Hazelnut. Does anyone else remember that one? It smelled so good. I have one bottle of lotion left in that scent and I can barely bring myself to use it for fear of running out! Do you have a favorite Bath & Body Works scent? Share!

2 Posts Today? Yep! :)

I know I have a few readers who read my blog through Bloglines. Well, Bloglines is closing at the beginning of October. I suggest moving over to Bloglovin'. Both of my blogs (this one and my photography one) are on there, as well as many other wonderful blogs that are just ready for you to follow! It's along the same lines as Bloglines. Otherwise, I'd just do the Google Friend Connect method. Just letting you guys know!

Also, I'm thinking of doing a small giveaway on Facebook! So if you're on Facebook, I'd love it if you'd "like" Fashionable Heart! And feel free to start up some discussions on the board. :)

So this isn't text-only, I'll just share one of my random photos. Have a great night!

e-Rewards Review

e-Rewards is a survey company, but I am here to tell you that it is legit. As a matter of fact, it is the only truly legit one that I have come across. No need to sign up for additional offers, get lots of spam mail, or anything of that nature. You have to be invited by one of the companies that they have as clients. I was sent the offer to join through American Eagle Outfitters. I also recall receiving an invitation from Gap and Ticketmaster.

The Canadian list differs from the US one, as the US one has a few more companies listed. That list of companies is what you base your rewards on. So say you do a survey for a company and get $5 added to your account, then you wait until you get up to the reward level that you want and then redeem a gift certificate for that money.

I used $45 in the e-Rewards currency to get a $25 giftcard to American Eagle. It doesn't take long to get enough money in your account. I believe I did around fifteen surveys or so to get to the level I wanted. And I'm already back at $34 on my account just after redeeming my points in June! The surveys differ in topic and usually take less than five minutes to complete.

My only problem was that I redeemed my points in June and never saw anything come in the mail or heard from the company. I emailed them and they were quick to respond. I don't know if my gift got lost in the mail or they accidentally overlooked it. Either way, they quickly sent one out my way last week. I got it in the mail yesterday!

So I just wanted to give you a heads up that if you get an email to join this site, it's worth it. You don't get money from it, but you can get gift certificates, e-certificates, SkyMiles and more! I hope you get an invite in your inbox from one of the companies. If I could send one out to you, I would. :) And if you've come across this blog post by Google when searching about the validity of the company, then I hope you found what you wanted to know!

ETA (9/29/2010): The original giftcard did finally find its way to me. Being a honest person, I emailed the company telling them that it had actually arrived and I now had both cards and offered to send one back. Without a kind word (or a thank you for my honesty, which would have been nice), they did ask that I return the original card. I don't mind sending the card back, but I did expect better customer service in a response especially when the first card took three months to get to me. Instead, I got a short response and an address.
