2020 Beauty Favorites

I try to do this little roundup every year, where I feature products that truly had the spotlight during the past year. This isn't where I share only new to me products, though some do fall into that category. Some are actually repeats over the years because I just haven't found anything that takes their crown away. This year is slightly less than past years, since I've spent the majority of it at home and not needing to bother with makeup on most days! As a matter of fact, most of my favorites this year is skincare.

To see what I liked last year,  you can read that post here. My routine certainly changed this year. How about yours? Did you find that you were putting more emphasis on skincare? With wearing masks, I really found I had no choice but to do so anyway. They definitely changed my skin a bit. There are a few products that I've currently been using in the past two months, but I try to only showcase products that had several months use. I do have those products coming up with reviews, though! I'd love to hear what some of your favorites were during 2020. Let me know in the comments!

I think this might be my favorite serum that I have ever used. My dry skin loves it! I have my full review of it here. You don't need much, so a bottle lasts a long while. My skin feels so smooth and hydrated after every use. I need them to take this same formula and make it into a body wash. I would be all over that!

Dr. Teal's Epsom Salts and Foaming Baths
When it comes to epsom salts, I have one brand that I turn to. Dr. Teal's! They now have several variations and matching foaming baths. I have talked about the coconut oil one here! I recently got the melatonin formula and have a review ready to post. I've tried a handful of the formulas and you just can't go wrong. My sore muscles melt away and I get a little escape from the world. It's a total win!

Neutrogena Bright Boost Gel Cream
An interesting hybrid of a gel and cream. My review of the Bright Boost line is here. This is really refreshing and hydrating on the skin and I appreciate the glow it gives.

Jade Facial Roller
It took me a bit of time to get on board with the facial rollers, but I am on board now! I got this one at Ulta on one of my trips back home in 2019 and I've been using ever since...when I remember to. I've put it right at the front of my vanity drawer to remember to use it more often.

Dual Face Brush

I was so happy to find this at the register in HomeSense one day. Those little setups at checkouts get me every time! I love both sides of this and the flat end allowing me to stand it by the sink is so convenient.

Sol de Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream
I know some love the original and I finally got both, but I have to say I love the smell of Coco Cabana more. Both were the birthday freebie at Sephora last year and I never got around to reviewing them. I think I also like this one slightly more than the original because it is an oil-in-water formula, which really works for me and my skin.

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink
All of them. I haven't tried one I don't like! The best part is that they are completely mask-proof. I've heard the new NYX lipsticks give these a run for their money, so I'll be on the lookout for those to try. I have quite a few of these swatched and you can find them under the "maybelline" tag. I don't wear lipsticks as often right now, but these are what I reach for the most when I do.

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

My go-to for under the eyes. It gets gross on the applicator, for sure. I'm constantly wiping it down. The coverage is great and I experience no creasing, so I'm willing to overlook the mess.

Maybelline Lifter Gloss
Still a fairly new product! It's unfortunate that it launched during a year of wearing masks and glosses are not exactly a prime lip product. The formula is so nice and light. I didn't get to use the two that I own as much as I would like over the past year, but I look forward to the days that I can wear these out. I haven't gotten around to reviewing and swatching the ones I own, so I'll try to get around to that.

Juvia's Place Eyeshadow Palettes
I have four now and adore them. The Nudes one pictured is one of my favorites. I've reviewed it here. I still need to get around to the reviews and swatches of the other three palettes. The blushes are great, as well (you can find them under the "juvia's place" tag). The formulas blend so nicely and pop on the skin, no matter how neutral.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
So underrated! They changed the packaging from a shiny metallic pink to this new matte pink one. Everything else stayed the same. The brush and formula are a perfect combination. I experience no clumps and a nice amount of volume. Very gentle on the eyes!

Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer
HG for life! This covers everything and lasts through everything while at it. It survives southern summers and Canadian winters. That is no small feat! Since half of my face is covered when going out, I've been skipping other face products like foundation most of the time. I just throw this on trouble areas and I'm good to go.

Maybelline Tattoo Brow
Also a fairly new product and most of us probably know it from seeing it all over TikTok. I'd say if this wasn't the year of skincare for me, it was the year of the eyes. I'm normally more of a lip person, but well...masks. So when (rarely) going out, I've amped up my eye area as much as possible. Gotta have a little oomph power somewhere! This takes a while to do its work, needing to sit on the brows for at least twenty minutes before pulling off. It's a learning curve on how to use it, but boy does it work! I can do a full review on this, if it is wanted. I think these favorites make it clear that Maybelline is among my favorite drugstore brands. They rarely let me down!

Physicians Formula x Weylie Palette

Every shade in this face palette is amazing. It took some effort to find with finally getting help from my friend Vanessa on finding a Shoppers that had it in stock. I have pictures and swatches ready to go. It's still available for purchase, as far as I know. Two highlighters, two blushes, and two bronzers in the beloved Butter formula. There's something for every skintone in this palette. Application is a dream!
