Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

When the $20 Sephora VIB coupon came into my inbox, I only had one product that I knew I wanted to use it on. This bad boy! I was not going to give in to the urge on buying Naked 3 just yet, but then that coupon showed up. Well played, Sephora. I ain't even mad, though. ;)

So to join along with the thousands of other swatch posts, here is mine!

One thing I don't like is primer pods. They gave four different types and each pod is supposed to last up to a week. I think the product would dry out quicker than that once you open it. My Naked palette was the original with the double-ended eyeliner. I loved that! My second Naked palette came with a small lipgloss and the double-ended brush. This one comes with the same brush and these pods. I don't know...I guess I was hoping for something different. I wish they would bring back the eyeliner, but with colors suitable to each palette!
packaging
I might be in the minority on this, but I actually prefer the packaging of the original Naked palette. The felt gets dirty quickly, but I felt it was sturdy enough. It never opens up unless I open it manually. These last two palettes have felt like pencil tins. I just feel it looks cheap.

brushes
This is the same brush that is in the Naked 2 palette. It's soft and nice, but I don't like it for eyeshadows. I think it works much better with cream products.

I love the colors. I think there is a good amount of variation. I also like that there are four matte colors. Blackheart is unique with being a matte base with rose-colored sparkles. I like the rose gold finishes for my blue eyes. If you have a problem with the shades not showing up, I'd suggest trying to foil them. Just spritz your brush with water or a fixing spray before you apply.

Does it replace the original Naked as my favorite? No. I still think that you can't beat the original. If someone could only get one of these palettes, I always suggest the first one. This palette does not change that answer, as I don't find it appeals to all skin tones or eye colors.

So smart of you to use the VIB coupon on Naked 3! (WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?)
I laughed at the pencil tin part haha (it's true though!) I do want the original Naked, since the colours are so nice, but the packaging does get dirty fast. Maybe I'll pick it up next time! c:

I didn't get a coupon! But was on the waiting list for UD so got it from there. I only own Naked 1 and thought this was different enough to take the plunge. Naked 2 I skipped.
I do love it!

Once I saw you mention you picked this up with your coupon I was excited to see your review. I used my coupon the same way.

I haven't bought any of the Naked pallets before, not really sure why since I'm all about the neutrals & Urban Decay. But I finally decided this was the one to go with. Surprisingly it's great on my skin tone, I use it daily with a variety of looks. The most surprising shade to me was Darkside - I love this! Darker shadows scare me a little, but once it's on it actually looks pretty purple on me. I might try getting #1 next, most research I've done says if this one works for your skin #1 might be great also.
