Our Anniversary Getaway: Briar's Resort

We just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, so we took off for a little one-night getaway. I found a deal for Briar's Resort at Lake Simcoe on Travelzoo. It's only about an hour from Toronto and fit the bill perfectly. With snow on the ground, there was still plenty to do and I bet it is amazing during the summer months. Here are some of my pictures and thoughts about the resort!

^This was the view from our room's balcony. You can see the lake and one of the ski trails.

^There was an amazing tower on the main building. The place is massive and reminds me so much of the resort on Dirty Dancing! We took full advantage of the game rooms. We played billiards, darts, foosball, and ping pong. After that, we enjoyed swimming in the pool and soaking in the hot tub. There are adult only hours, which is a nice added touch. My husband actually hit the bullseye while we were playing darts! Proud wife moment!

^The high point of our stay was the food. Honestly, it was all delicious. Our package provided us with dinner and breakfast. Dinner involved three courses! I chose a caesar salad as my appetizer, which had a delicious homemade dressing. My main course, pictured above, was a strip loin steak with mushrooms and peppercorn au jus, garlic mashed potatoes, and seasonal vegetables. It was nothing short of amazing. For dessert, I ordered homemade chocolate banana cream pie with vanilla ice cream. It was so good, it took every ounce of self-restraint to not lick the plates.

^For breakfast the next morning, I ordered an omelet, roasted potatoes, and a baked tomato. The omelet had ham, cheese, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. I don't usually order omelets, but this hit the spot. A great way to end our stay!

If you enjoy staying at resorts that offer lots of indoor and outdoor activities provided on site, this is a great choice. The rooms were nice and clean, the food was beyond delicious, and the activities available are endless. We really enjoyed our anniversary and overnight stay at Briar's!

Happy anniversary! It's nice to get away once in a while, even if it's only for a weekend. We've been meaning to do it for a while but somehow life keeps getting in the way, haha...

Happy Anniversary! Though you said the resort was large, it still seems to have an intimate feel to it. Glad you had such a great time! I can't believe y'all still have snow!!!!
