Buxom Full-On Plumping Lip Polish Gloss in Katie

I picked this up at Ulta while home for Christmas! I'm pretty sure it first came on my radar when I saw makeupbytiffanyd wearing it in one of her YouTube videos and it caught my attention. I have a  shades from the Plumping Lip Polish line of Buxom, including the one that so many of us beauty lovers fawn over - White Russian. I don't always reach for plumping lip products, because I just don't feel them necessary in my everyday life nor do I enjoy the feeling/tingling of them all of the time.

I will say that compared to other plumping products I have tried before, the tingling of these isn't as strong. You can still feel it working and the coolness effect. Katie is going to be a gorgeous shade for spring and summer. See below for my thoughts and swatches!

I know these are available at Ulta and Sephora (retailing for $28 CA). Sephora describes the Katie shade as "sheer peach with opal shimmer" and that is spot on. It's okay on its own, but not my favorite way to wear it. The shimmer still catches the light, but there isn't that much color payoff until you use it as a topper. That's when it truly shines. It especially looks gorgeous over nudes with pink tones and pink lip colors.

My favorite combination has been layering it with Maybelline's SuperStay Matte Ink in Loyalist. The two work perfectly together! Now, I will say that layering the Matte Ink with glosses does slightly alter the staying power. It's worth it to mix it up a bit and for the days that you don't want a matte lip.

I notice minimal plumping, but it's enough for my liking. I appreciate the doe foot applicator, which I prefer to a brush one. The scent is vanilla and I don't find it overpowering, but I also really like vanilla scents. If you don't, you may not like this line because the smell does linger for a while. And again while alone, they're nice, but they do look their best over another lip product. I love the high gloss that they give and the shimmer isn't over-the-top. They are sticky, but that does help with the staying power. One quality is that the formula does not sink into lines or accentuate any dry or chapped patches. If anything, it smoothes over them and makes them look better!
