Benefit Blush Bar and Gold Rush Boxed Powder

I recently won a giveaway on Benefit Cosmetics Canada's Instagram and these beauties were my prize! They sent me their new Blush Bar and the new Gold Rush Boxed Powder. Thank you, Benefit! The palette consists of five shades of blush and contour powders: Galifornia, Gold Rush, Dandelion, Hoola, and Rockateur. While the palette is limited edition, the blushes aren't. If you want to see my swatches and what I think of these products, keep on reading.

The Blush Bar comes with a little guide book on how you can use the shades. If you're familiar with Benefit's Boxed Powders, they each have their own scents. Even though these are in a palette, they still each have that scent that they would when sold separately. I'll get into the scents and shades below!

Because Gold Rush is included in the palette, I took the pictures for this post and then sent it on its way to my Mama as an added extra to her Mother's Day package. Hoping she loves it! As usual, both came with the little brushes. They will do in a pinch, but I much prefer using my blush brushes in my collection. Both the palette and boxed powders come with mirrors.

Galifornia
This one is a lot brighter and pigmented than I expected. I like Benefit's blushes, but I usually find them on the softer side. Not this one! It's a bright pink with slight gold shimmer, but I don't notice the shimmer that much on my fair skin. This one has a citrus (pink grapefruit) and vanilla scent.

Gold Rush
This is a peach shade. While the gold shimmer overlay is pretty for display purposes, I pretty much rubbed that right off to get to the good stuff. There's still a slight shimmer in the blush itself that lends to a peachy glow, perfect for these warm summer months that are around the corner. The scent is also a light citrus and vanilla.

Dandelion
I actually already own Dandelion and Hoola, so I'm familiar with this one! This is a pale pink brightening powder. I usually layer this with Benefit's High Beam highlighter. The scent is a soft floral.

Hoola
Benefit calls this a bronzer, but I say it is more of a contour powder. It's too matte and it does not make my face look bronzed when using it that way. There are far better products out there for that effect, in my opinion. It works perfectly as a contour powder where you place it in the shadows of your face. I could probably fare better with the newer Hoola Lite, but I haven't tried that one yet. This one doesn't really have a scent to it.

Rockateur
This is considered a rose gold. Like Gold Rush and Galifornia, this one was new to me in this set. I had my eye on it before, but never bit the bullet. This gives such a natural glow and I think it's my favorite in the palette! I'm one that goes for more natural blush tones more often than not and this delivers. I can see myself grabbing this year round and with any look. The scent on this one is very strong, but I can't make it out. I find it to the be the strongest in the bunch and it's not my favorite, but it doesn't last on the skin.

So there we have it. Have you tried any of these? I'd love to hear your opinion on these or any of Benefit's other blushes!
