Demeter Foolproof Blending Kits

This is my first adventure in perfume blending. I know about the art of mixing different perfumes together and finding a custom scent, I just never actually tried it myself. A lot of that was based on the fear of creating something that smelled horrible on the skin and wasting a perfectly good spritz of perfume. Demeter takes that fear away with their Foolproof Blending kits. The fragrances are all based on single notes, so they smell exactly the same the entire duration of wear.

As a member of the Canadian Beauty Bloggers network, I have been given the opportunity to try two of the kits. I had yet tried Demeter until this, but I had heard a lot about them and how spot on their scents are. Well, that's no embellishment. Every scent I got was a dead ringer. It doesn't mean I liked them all, but you can't deny the smell once that cap is off.

I received the Jasmine and Lavender Duo Kit, Vanilla Trio Kit, a Laudromat sample, and a flash drive with info I needed for the review. I have to say that flash drive was a nice touch! Laundromat smells just like clean clothes. I keep forgetting to throw this in my bag for physio!

I chose Jasmine and Lavender, because I love lavender and knew that I would be getting the vanilla base trio of base notes. I have stated before how I love lavender and vanilla together. My absolute favorite scent in the world is vanilla. Put vanilla in anything and I am sold.

The duo kits come with the two title scents (in this case, Jasmine & Lavender), an empty bottle to place your own creation, a funnel, and a few droppers to experiment. To write on the label for your personal creation, a permanent marker is recommended. The other duo kits available are Clean Skin & Sunshine and Grass & Dirt. They are priced at $35 CA.

The trio kits come with three base notes suitable for layering with any scent and scent strips to test them on. I got the vanilla set, but there are two other kits named Clean and Light Floral. These are $45 CA.

I will say that I did not really like the Jasmine, so I haven't really experimented with it. That might change as summer comes around, as that is when I don't mind floral scents as much. My favorites are Lavender and Hawaiian Vanilla. Gingerbread smells on point and I guarantee I'll reach for that more when the holidays come back around. Angel Food pairs nicely with the Hawaiian Vanilla and Lavender, so I've been using that triple threat a few times. As for longevity, they last hours on my skin and softly linger until my next shower.

So why isn't my customizable bottle done? Because I'm just not ready for that level of commitment yet! As a perfectionist, I find it a bit too daunting to not get something exactly the way I want it. So I am still experimenting right now by just spraying them on my skin. You can see what others thought of the kits and what they chose as their custom fragrance here. There are more kits coming out this year!
