In March, I first shared six good romance reads in the age gap trope. In the spirit of December being here, I am here to share six good Christmas romance books. As a matter of fact, I have enough to make two posts if this one sparks interest or I can save them for next year. I've been on a holiday reading kick since November kicked off. There has been some clunkers, but quite a few winners. It's always hit or miss with holiday books, isn't it? It is easy to fall into that cheesy category, though sometimes that works in the tale's favor. I typically prefer the ones rooted a little more in reality.
And I just went with a Christmas themed photo from my archive. Who doesn't love themed donuts? These were from Krispy Kreme last year or the year before. I love that this year's is Peanuts themed. May have to splurge on those. Come on, a Snoopy donut? It's somewhere between a want and a need. 😄
Dreaming of a Cowboy Christmas by Ann Einerson
I'll tell you right now that one thing new to me in 2025 was Ann Einerson and I sure am glad I stumbled upon her books. Nothing I have read by her has been anything less than four stars and I was waiting for months for this one, practically drooling with anticipation. It delivered! This one is an age gap and city girl snowed in with a cowboy romance. The way Shep takes care of Noelle is swoon worthy and she helped heal him. A beautiful story!
Scrooge by Samantha Skye
Samantha always writes a little of suspense in her romances and I love her for it. This one has recently been free in the Kindle app, so check to see if it still is. Haylee runs a toy store with her family and she's wanting to meet the landlord about the rent costs. Alex is business minded and wants market value, but then he also finds himself intrigued by Haylee. He needs his public image tidied up and enter the fake relationship. They have such great banter and chemistry and it is such an excellent slow burn. There's some fun humor in this one, as well.
O Goalie Night by K.M. Gillis
One thing to know about me is I love hockey, but my sweet spot is goalies and this goalie was IT. Foster is Beth's brother's best friend and teammate. He lets Beth stay at his place which leads to a growing relationship and feelings. The plot was beautiful, but I found the majority of my angst to be with her family. It's based in Ottawa, she wears his jersey, and there is no third act breakup. This solidifies how much of a goalie gal I am.
A Cozy Holiday by Kels and Denise Stone
Both main characters are in their 30s. Joy finds her boyfriend knocking boots with someone else which leads to her drunkenly applying for a job outside of NYC that leads her to a reindeer sanctuary in Maine. It's a bit of a slow burn, but by chapter 13 you're getting joy out of Joy and Jamie. His twin daughters are also adorable, the fainting bunny is cute, and Jamie is a fella that likes to take control. This was a good time all around.
The Mistletoe Kisser by Lucy Score
Ryan comes to save his great uncle's farm and runs into Sam when he brings a sheep to the vet where she was on shift that night. This one is a bit more plot and less spice. And it's pretty over-the-top in a Hallmark way, because no way do these shenanigans happen in real life. Well, they shouldn't. This town is nuts, but it works on paper. I got a little annoyed at the antics at parts, but it's still a fun ride.
Can I Tell You Something? by Holly June Smith
This one is a bit different for me, because it was first time trying immersive reading. In this story, the main male character makes spicy soundbites as a side gig and this seemed like the perfect book to try immersive reading for in a very meta way. I am glad I did because it made it so much better. I am not usually one that gravitates toward audio books, but I do prefer duet when I do. The book is fine, but the audio adds so much to this specific plotline. Cameron is Hannah's brother's roommate and friend and he comes to spend Christmas with her family. The minute she hears his voice, she knows. She happens to be a big fan and when he finds out? Yeah, it gets good. He writes an entire scene for her and uses it to act out during sexy time. Spectacular, gimme 14 of 'em.
Have you read any good books lately? I hope you enjoy these little book roundups. You can find my whole reviews on my Fable account.
