Sephora Solid Brush Cleaner

This stuff is solid gold. I really wish this had come into my life sooner than just this past year, because I find it much easier than baby shampoo and more effective than spray cleaners. Sephora's Solid Brush Cleaner makes one of my least favorite beauty tasks (chore really, I mean, let's call it what it really is) a little more tolerable. And I'm always down for products that make things easier.

It has a top that screws on making this travel-friendly for washing your brushes on vacation. Or you can still take the easy route and just pack doubles like me. Because lazy, that's why. ;) With the brush cleanser, also comes a pink scrub pad. And it works like a charm, let me tell you. I took the same brush model above to show you a before and after. The cleanser and pad duo makes my brushes look like new and the scrub pad helps get out any caked on product of the brush fibers. I also use the bar to wash my sponges, but not the scrub pad. It's a little too abrasive for them.

So how does it work? Wet the bar first. Take your brush and swivel it across the bar to form a lather. Place the scrub pad into the lid of the container and swirl your brush along the pad to get a deep clean. Then, under running water, use the same swirl method on the pad to remove the soap until the water runs clear. I leave the lid off to dry overnight before putting the lid back on it. The bar needs to dry before using it again. I just lay it beside my brushes while they are drying.

The ingredients list is simple and the argan oil makes my brushes feel so soft. The smell of the bar is nice and refreshing, but it does not transfer to the brushes. If you want to try this but not sure that you will like it, Sephora offers two sizes. I have the bigger one that retails for $17 CA, but there is a smaller one that is $10 CA.

Have you tried this cleaner? I'd love to hear what you think. What is your favorite way to wash your brushes?
