July Favorites!

I cannot believe how quickly July has gone by! Here are my favorites. It was definitely hard to narrow it down this time! If you want to share your own, please do! :)

Victoria's Secret Pink With a Splash All-Over Body Mist in Sweet & Flirty- This scent is amazing. Stay away from it if you don't like smelling sweet.

CoverGirl LashBlast- I gave in to peer pressure when I bought this mascara a few months ago, but I'm really glad I did. The brush is unlike any others that I own and it does a great job of covering the lashes.

NYX eye palette in I Dream of St. Marteen- What a great little neutral palette! I can see myself packing this away on trips when I don't want to carry lots of makeup with me. I'm really pleased with the way the colors feel and blend, as well. I still need to do swatches for these and have been procrastinating. Bad Wendy, bad! :)

MAC Dazzleglass Creme in If It's Pink- Such a fun gloss! It doesn't go on as vibrant as it looks, but over my pigmented lips it offers a nice and neutral magenta pink. A pop of color, but not overly loud and brazen.

MAC blush duo in Hang Loose- This is becoming my go-to blush! It adds such a nice sheen and color to my cheeks.

Benefit High Beam- I love this during the summer. It is such a creamy highlighter and doesn't look like chunky glitter on the face. In my opinion, it's one of Benefit's best products.

Have a fantastic weekend! Oh, let me just mention that Monday is a civic holiday here. So I will more than likely not be posting again until Tuesday! :)

Would You Rather Tag

I was tagged by Linh to do this! I could have made a video on YouTube to do it, but I'm way too lazy to get my camera out and film. :)

1. Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up or nice hair and no make-up?
Because I rarely have a nice hair day, I'd definitely take the nice hair and no make-up. I go out without makeup all of the time. :)

2. Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?
Eyelashes. I'd get really tired of having to draw in my eyebrows everyday. And quite frankly, I never notice anyone's eyelashes unless they are ridiculously long.

Sephora Goodies
3. Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?
I'm surprised that I haven't heard a single person choose MAC for this. I am going to have to go with Sephora. While I absolutely love my MAC, I don't think I could stick with just one brand. I'm much too fickle of a consumer! :)

4. Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?
80s perm. Heck, maybe it would give my thin hair some volume!

5. Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?
Oh man, neither? Haha! I guess I would choose the foundation line because I don't pay attention to that sort of thing. Overdone blush just screams clown to me...and I'm afraid of clowns! :P

6. Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?
I'm a big girl. To make me wear Hammer pants would be cruel to both me and the rest of society. With biker shorts, I could put a dress or a long tunic over them. As a matter of fact, I do that already. I don't need everyone and their brother seeing my knickers. True fact.

7. Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?
Weird tan lines. Been there and done that. I don't think I'd want to walk around looking like an Oompa Loompa.

8. Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?
Bad haircut. I've had so many in my life. After awhile, you become a pro at hiding them with changing the part, throwing it up in a ponytail, etc. It's a little more difficult to hide the color.

9. Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever?
Ooh, I'm addicted to both. I would have to go with twitter. I could watch YT videos all day long and never grow bored.

My Makeup Brush Setup
10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?
Mascara! Oh man, I would kick someone really hard if they tried to take my brushes away! :D They are one of my prized possessions in my makeup collection!

Sephora Birthday Freebie

I mentioned that I got this the other week for my birthday. I definitely like this set more than the previous two years of the cupcake bubble bath and the glosses. I feel like this gives a good selection.

The packaging for the eyeshadow is minimal, which I absolutely love. It doesn't take up much room. I love MAC shadows, but I find the packaging to be so bulky which makes me want to depot them as soon as I get them (for the ones not offered in pan form). Though I do think I'll do some research on how to depot the Sephora ones so that I can add this to one of my palettes.

I love how silky this feels. It reminds me of the MAC Starflash formula. I may just have to give more attention to the Sephora brand eyeshadows, because this is much nicer than I thought it would be. I personally would not wear this all over the lid, but used lightly, it makes a nice brow/cheek/inner eye corner highlight.

This is a very creamy eye pencil, which I prefer. The creamier the better for me, because I find them easy to blend and cause less tugging during the application. I like the color of this, as I don't think that I would generally choose it and it is very unique. It gives the illusion of being duochrome when light hits it.

I don't know how I feel about this mascara. It coats nicely, but I find the wand bristles to lose shape relatively easy. The formula also flakes off not much longer after applying it. It does not do anything special in the volume or length department. It just simply coats your lashes. As a free item, I am glad to have tried it. It's not bad, it's just not great.

Can't wait to see what they offer next year! :)

Contest/Frugal Fashion Week/Review

First off, don't forget that the contest is ending tonight! There are not that many entries for the first prize. :) Link is in the sidebar or just scroll down the page for one.

I was originally approached by a company to do a trial run for a Nokia phone and attend the Frugal Fashion Week Gala at the Bata Shoe Museum. I showed up early and waited over an hour for a meet-up that never happened. Perhaps my messages were lost or perhaps our paths just did not cross. I waited outside for a bit of the time and inside the museum lobby for the latter of the time. I sent two text messages and an email and both went unanswered. This person also had my pass that was supposed to allow me into the gala.

Due to me being a fashion and beauty blogger, the kind people at the event allowed me to stay with open arms. The people of the Bate Shoe Museum, Frugal Fashion Week, and Windfall charity were some of the kindest and friendliest people. With the event came full access to the shoe museum!

Contrary to (possibly) being stood up by said company, I made the most of the night. I am glad that I went and got my first fashion event under my belt. I hope this leads to more! I enjoyed looking through the museum. For proof that the museum is fascinating, even my husband was intrigued and this is the man who complains every time I drag him into a shoe store!

My favorite exhibit was the Native American room. The bead work on the moccasins were amazing. My great-great-grandmother was a Cherokee and it was very moving to see the shoes and read some historical facts about the different Indian tribes. Another fun exhibit was the socks. They had a pair of Napoleon Bonaparte's stockings! There was art, history, and fashion under one roof and I walked away with a little more knowledge than I walked in with.

So unfortunately I don't have a review of the Nokia N97 Mini, because that offer completely fell through. Had I not been offered to go to this event, I might never had heard of it. I'm glad I went, though I thought it was very unprofessional of the representative of the company not to call, text, or email me when they had my number. I call it as I see it and on my end, I was stood up and there was a lack of communication.

As for Frugal Fashion Week, it is a lot of fun! I believe that I will try to take in some of the events next year, as well. I love the whole idea behind it. If you're in Toronto or surrounding areas, it's definitely worth checking out when it happens.

My Toronto/GTA Girls

There's some exciting events going on right now with the Frugal Fashion Week! There will be fashion shows, parties, shopping, auctions, swag bags, and more! And I've been invited to take part! I'll have more details on that in my next post. :)

The event that I am attending is tonight at the Bata Shoe Museum. I am very excited to be going! What fashionista wouldn't want to have a night looking at amazing shoes and dancing the night away to a DJ?! It all seems to be straight out of Sex and the City, which happens to be one of my favorite shows.

My only problem was picking out what to wear. Luckily, I emailed FFW beforehand to find out if there was a dress code. That's the best part- there isn't. You go in your own style and you rock it. Now, that's my kind of fashion event!

The events are continuing until Sunday so if you're in the Toronto area, it might be something you want to check out. Just buy the pass online to the event that you want to go to. Yes, you do have to pay for a pass. However, a portion of the money goes to charity!

Again, I'll have more about it in my next post. For now, I'm headed out the door! Please forgive the text-only post as I am on a schedule today. :) Have a great weekend!

P.S.- I will respond to past comments when I get back in tonight!

Spoiled Girls

My husband bought me a gift certificate that can be redeemed at a spa of my choice (it gives a load of options to choose from). This may surprise you, but I'm not one for spoiling myself like that. Aside from getting my eyebrows waxed, I do everything else myself. I have had one manicure in my life and that was for my wedding.

Sure I indulge in skincare, makeup, etc., but I learn everything on my own. I'm almost uncomfortable at the thought of it being someone else doing it! Even getting my eyebrows done is a chore for me and I probably wouldn't if I did not end up looking like a hairy gorilla after awhile. Not too mention I can take the pain of waxing and plucking when administered from someone else, but if it's me doing it, I whimper like a baby. ;P

I am torn on what to choose with this gift. Every spa offers something different. There are scalp treatments, facials, pedicures, manicures, massages, waxing...the list goes on. Luckily, it doesn't expire for a year because it could possibly take me that long just to decide! Have you ever been to a spa? What do you do to spoil yourself? Do you prefer to do things yourself or are you in absolute heaven having someone else pamper you?

If there is one thing that is certain, we all should be pampered in one way or another. We absolutely deserve it. If you're not being pampered, you need to set aside a "me hour" at least once a week and just focus on YOU!

Birthday: Sephora

Ok...if you hate these kinds of posts, you can breathe a sigh of relief. My birthday haul is now over after this post. I will then step in with reviews and swatches. :) It may not start tomorrow, because I have a busy day of errands. I'll try to post, but it may not be swatches. It just depends on how much time I have!

Group shot!

The birthday freebie this year. I like this one better than last year's glosses, but maybe that's because I'm an eyeshadow type of girl.

Not bad for freebies. I will give swatches later and let you know what I think.

A Korres lip butter in Jasmine. It's a pale pink and very sweet scent. It reminds me of brown sugar.

NARS So Famous Set. This is probably my favorite makeup related item that I got. You get a full-sized lipstick pencil in Bettina, a blush in Deep Throat, and a mini-multiple stick in Orgasm. My swatches of this will include side-by-side views of Deep Throat and Orgasm blushes.

Joining Sephora's beauty program and becoming a Beauty Insider is completely free and it rewards you for your shopping. And if your birthday is coming up, don't forget to take advantage of all of the free stuff at other places. I always make a personal list of places that offer meals, discounts, and gifts! :) Hope you are having a lovely day!

Birthday: NYX Palettes

I really like the NYX brand, but it is hard to find here. I try to purchase the eye pencils whenever I see them because they are particularly hard to find in stores! I plan on doing an updated swatch post on them soon, by the way. :) Anyway, there is a place at an outlet mall just outside of the city that sells NYX products. You just never know what they will have each time you go in there!

Group shot of the palettes!

A nice neutral palette. I really love the colors in this one. I used the first three colors in a look the other day. The formula is really nice and easy to blend. The only thing is that it is the same price as the palettes with more colors like below.

I love palettes like these to travel with. There are so many looks that can be created with this!

I almost did not pick this one up, but I am happy I did. There is a color or two that I don't have a dupe for in my collection.

Do you have any NYX palettes? A favorite? I think this was a great way to start my NYX eyeshadow collection. :)
