I'm going to Niagara Falls for the weekend to celebrate Memorial Day! So I'm taking the opportunity to share what I'm packing in my makeup case this go-around. :) I was just going to take pictures, but I thought sharing a video might be more fun! Maybe not if you don't want to hear me ramble for 8 minutes. Ha!
Since Memorial Day is Monday, I will not be posting. I'll be back on Tuesday with my May Favorites! Happy Memorial Day to all of my American friends and family!

MAC To the Beach Swatches
Here are my swatches from the products I picked up yesterday!
Easy Lounger lipglass, Lazy Day lipstick, Hipness blush, and Marine Life powder.
Marine Life! It's so gorgeous. It's definitely the most coveted item from this collection. The overlay doesn't make a huge difference and adds a nice sheen. It goes away relatively fast, though. So if you don't like it, it's ok because it rubs off easily or only lasts for a use or two!
I'm not sure why this is being labeled a highlighter. The pink color is a nice highlight color, but this powder is definitely more of a blush.
A beautiful coral color! It shows up a lovely color on fair skin! I think it is vibrant and pigmented enough to look good on darker skin too!

Many people are thinking Lazy Day is similar to Viva Glam Gaga, because they look a lot alike in the tube. When it's swatched and on the skin, you can see a huge difference! Lazy Day is kind of a muted and less lilac-based color of pink. It's a real nice pink neutral to add to your collection.

I tried to pick out a few permanent color dupes that are similar to Easy Lounger. It's really close to Love Nectar and somewhat close to Baby Sparks. So if you miss out on Easy Lounger, I'd say purchase Love Nectar.
I was a bit disappointed in lack of color payoff. It also has a lot of glitter. It might look good paired with a few pinks. I think Love Nectar is a little better since it has more color payoff. I will probably use it on the days that I want glossy lips and going for the "no makeup" look.
As you know, I usually cancel out the pigmentation with concealer. I like to try my lipsticks both ways to see if the color looks better with or without it. With Lazy Day, it works well with both but looks amazing with pigmented lips! It just shows how versatile this lipstick is. This is a keeper!

MAC To the Beach
MAC's To the Beach Collection has launched! I think you either going to love the packaging or hate it. I don't think it is as cute as the Liberty of London design, but I do like it! It's bright and summery!
I don't think any of the eyeshadows truly suit me. The only one I plan on getting is Humid, but it's a permanent color and will be cheaper in pan form. This collection is focused mainly on getting that bronzed summer look, so if you want to stock up on some bronzers this is the collection for you! :) The lipsticks look really pretty. A bit of heads up on Thrills lipstick: NYX's Indian Pink is a very close dupe!
Since I am hoping to go to the States in the next few days, I figure I can get anything that I didn't get here when I go across the border. I just wanted to make sure that I got the things that will sell out very quickly. I'll be getting my goodies tonight, but I'll go ahead and list what I have the store holding for me.
Lazy Day lipstick- Similar to Viva Glam Gaga, but a lighter pink with less of a purple/blue undertone. If Gaga didn't work for you, you might have better luck with this one.
Easy Lounger tinted lipglass- I just really like the pale pink color. I think this will look good over a nude color. I thought about getting Splashing, but in swatches it looks very similar to English Accents from the Liberty of London Collection.
Hipness powder blush- This is starting to sell out in some stores already! It is a repromote from the MAC Fafi Collection. It's a pink-based coral that will look lovely for summer.
Marine Life high-light powder- I'd be a liar if I didn't say that part of the reason I'm so drawn to this product is the design. It's gorgeous. But when you get past that superficial stuff, it's just really a fabulous powder. It's a win-win! This is selling out fast. It's already gone on the Canadian and US MAC websites. So call around and see if a store has it. To my Toronto girls, I'm getting mine from the Eaton Centre. They still had some at 2pm! The MAC Pro store on Queen St. West is sold out! It is sold out at both the Eaton Centre and the MAC Pro the last I checked. Though rumor has it that the Eaton Centre location might have another shipment coming in.
Have you gotten anything from the collection? :)

Maybelline Eye Studio Survey
Hi guys! I'm finally starting to feel a little better! After almost two weeks of being ill, I'm ready to feel 100% better. I'll try to post up a blog tomorrow, as well. I'll go ahead and say that I will not have time to post on Monday. It's a holiday here and my husband's birthday. So I'll be out all day! :)
You know how I was sent the Maybelline Eye Studio Collection? There is a survey to take that will only take around two minutes of your time. The best part? $2 will go to a charity (The Redwood) with every completed survey! It's for a great cause and it gives the company feedback at the same time.
So this is not all text, here's a picture of some macarons for you! So yummy!

Old Navy Spring Haul
This is a collective haul from my last few trips to Old Navy! They have some really cute things out for spring. The dresses they have are adorable this go-around.
First row: yoga pants, anchor lounge pants, gold rope sandals
Second row: green cabana dress, navy cabana dress
I love Old Navy yoga pants. I find that they fit really well and don't stretch out. And I adore the fit of those two cabana dresses that I want to get the other two colors that they have!
First row: yoga tanks
Second row: embellished tank, purple floral tank
I do a lot of yoga and Pilates during the summer months and these are the perfect length. And they have built-in support! The embellished tank top is a bit tribal-influenced, so it is perfect for the tribal trend.
First row: black polo, coral tee
Second row: blue reversed striped tee, purple reversed striped tee
Just to give you a heads up, I'm not sure how much I'll be blogging this week. I had to go to the doctor this weekend because I'm so sick. Turns out I have an infection in both ears and strep throat. Lovely, I know. So I'll be resting a lot and taking antibiotics this week. This is definitely the worst I have felt in a long time. Hope you guys understand the possible lack of blogging until I get better! :)

How to Be a Good Friend
I've decided to step out of my usual makeup/shopping/fashion box and post a list about friendship. It has come to my attention in my personal life that some people need a lesson in how to be a good friend.
How to Be a Good Friend
1. Give them reasons to have faith and trust in you.
2. Never stop being a friend over pride.
3. Don't share your big news through Twitter and Facebook first. I know it's easier, but face-to-face is always the way to go.
4. Do your best to be able to celebrate big days, anniversaries, and special moments WITH them.
5. Remember the dates of the big days, anniversaries, and special moments.
6. If their jeans make them look fat, tell them...not everyone else. In other words, don't talk about them behind their back.
7. Be willing to step in and stick up for them when needed. Be loyal.
8. If you make a promise, keep the promise.
9. Treat them the same way you expect to be treated.
10. Don't hold a grudge. Even if your friendship changes or you go separate ways, let go of the grudge and forgive. You'll both feel better in the long run.
There's more that it takes, but those are some major guidelines to follow. Please don't be guilty of being a bad friend! Who wants to be remembered that way?! :)

A Few Quotes

Mascara Collection
I have a few mascaras in my collection, so I thought it would be fun to compare them with mini reviews. I did have a few others but I threw them out in my last massive clean-up. I try to stop myself from buying one unless there is something that separates it from what I already have! If you'd like a more in depth review/pictures of a certain mascara, just let me know!
Rimmel Glam'Eyes
This is one of those purchases that I made for purely shallow reasons- I fell in love with the colors and design of the packaging! *slaps hand* In this case, my shallowness worked in my favor. The super-fine comb applicator makes sure that you get every single lash covered. It works great with separating the lashes and preventing the spider leg look with clumping.
Benefit BADgal Lash
I absolutely love this mascara! It's my favorite one to use for when I want the effect to be va-va-voom! I find that it gives me that longer and thicker look and doesn't clump on me at all. I know that many have a love-hate relationship with this one, so I'd assume it has everything to do with how your lashes are naturally. And I love the bigger applicator!
Benefit BADgal Plum
This does the same thing as the one above only it's an amazing purple color. With my eyes being blue, the plum really brings out the purple/blue in my eyes. I wear it for an extra zing. I love wearing it anytime I put on blue or brown.
Maybelline Pulse Perfection
The idea of a pulsing wand scared me at first. The vibrations are so fast and small that you really don't feel it. This mascara does a great job at curling my lashes while coating them evenly and separating them.
Maybelline Great Lash Clear
Not great for the lashes at all, in my opinion. The formula is more gel-like and takes a bit to dry. I use it for my eyebrows! It can also work to tame flyaway hairs if you're not near hairspray or gel.
L'Oreal Voluminous in Black/Brown
I often reach for this for those days that I want a lot of extra volume. The formula comes out really thick on the brush, so you have to scrape the brush against the tube once or twice. It's worth it though, because this mascara makes my lashes appear so thick!
Maybelline XXL Pro 24 HR Bold
The first end is what builds the volume. The second end of the tube is the waterproof topcoat. It definitely provides volume and they claim it lasts 24 hours. This mascara can be flaky if you add too much and can be annoying to get off.
Maybelline XXL Pro Curl
The first end primes and curls. I find it best to wait until the primer coat has dried before applying the second end. The second end gives the color and locks in the curl. My problem with this mascara lies in the wand. I find it hard to apply close to the eyes. And because of that, I can't get a great application.
Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions
My newest favorite mascara! This adds so much length! Again, apply the primer coat and let it dry. Then apply the second end of the mascara. It doesn't add a lot of volume, but you should see a significant improvement in length.
Maybelline XXL Pro Volume
Another primer basecoat and color topcoat. This is a great mascara for adding volume. It's very dramatic, so I only reach for it for night's out. I know that Maybelline says to apply before the basecoat dries, but I really find it better to wait for it to dry. I found that when the primer was still wet that the black from the mascara just mixed with it. I'm sure it works fine either way, because I've had no problem achieving volume with this!
TIP: The best way to make sure a primer and mascara coat the lashes well is to do a slight windshield-wiper motion with the wand as you move it through. That's the best way to get volume with a mascara!
Disclaimer: The Maybelline Pulse Perfection and all of the Maybelline XXL Pro mascaras were sent to me by a company. My review is my own opinion and I did not receive payment for it.

Top 5 Celebrity Crushes
Thought a fun post was due! Here are my top 5 male celebrity crushes at the moment. Feel free to share your own list of eye candy in the comments!
In no particular order:
1. George Clooney
Does this guy even need a description of why I like him? Nope, don't think so!
2. Zachary Levi
Plays a nerd oh-so-well on Chuck, but he also sings. While I'm on the issue of Chuck, please try it out! It is a really funny show and worth a chance. My fingers are crossed for another season!
3. Brandon Flowers
Probably the baddest boy on my list. We all need to at least have one on our list! Makes life interesting. :)
4. Michael Buble
Another brown-haired singer (I think I have a type! Haha!). He's got a voice that makes me swoon and he has a sense of humor.
5. Daniel Craig
Those eyes of his are the bluest of blue. Remembering a few scenes in Casino Royale doesn't exactly hurt my opinion of him either. ;)

Glam Princess

My newest addition to my perfume collection! The set came with the perfume, body lotion, and an adorable wristlet. I tend to generally not like the scented body lotions that come in sets like these because the scent can be overpowering, but this one is quite light in scent and not greasy in formula.
The perfume is not a strong scent, but rather it's nice and light. Perfect for a summer day! I find that the scent only lasts about five hours. I'm really happy I got this. It's a nice sister to Vera Wang's Princess!

MAC Swatches
Here are the swatches of my recently purchased MAC items. I won't show the swatch of the English Accents lipglass, because I have already put up swatches of it on here just weeks ago.

I have a few qualms about this pencil. I don't think the color would look that great on darker skin tones. Also the formula hugely accentuates any dryness on your lips. Be sure to moisturize your lips and remove any dead skin before using this. I don't have any lip color like this already in my collection. I tried it on its own with a clear gloss and with using Plink! over it. I'm really thinking that Partial to Pink Cremesheen Glass will look nice layered on top.
I like the unique color!
Viva Glam Cyndi is a coral color. It's a red-based coral. Normally I stay away from the coral-red family and stick to peachy-colored corals, but I think this can work for any skin tone because it is sheer. You can choose how deep you want the color by just how many layers you apply.
As you can see, with only one layer you can have a sheer wash of color. That makes this a great lipstick to carry in your bag because you can take it from day to night with just a few added swipes across the lips. This is a great wearable color!
The Coral Crepe paint pot is a nice base for a neutral eye. I tried to sheer it out at the left bottom of the swatch so that you can see that you can wear it on cheeks for a nice glow. I have not had the opportunity to work with it much and incorporate it into eye looks, but I think it will be fun for the summer!
